24-hour robot coffee shop opens in Beijing, makes world record
The robots are rolling into the coffee shop scene.
A 24-hour coffee shop with a robot barista manning the booth has opened in Beijing, setting a Guinness World Record, as reported by CBS News.
7Fresh Coffee is the first of its kind and can be found in Beijing's Chaoyang District at Galaxy SOHO, a futuristic office, retail, and entertainment complex.
Several videos of the robot barista in action showed it clad in a gray and white sweatshirt and accessorized with a gray cap, headphones, and silver chains around its neck. It wasn't wearing any pants.

Customers can place their orders in a touchscreen menu outside the shop. The robot takes care of the rest: grinding, brewing, and serving. Once the orders are ready, the robot puts the drinks—both iced and hot—in cubby holes where customers can claim them.
The robotic efficiency has already earned the coffee shop a Guinness World Record for the highest number of coffee cups served in one hour. Since the robot is able to prepare orders in less than 30 seconds on average, it can serve 202 cups in one hour.
JD.com Inc., a Chinese e-commerce and tech company, announced the opening of its first fully automated coffee shop on Aug. 14, per GuruFocus News.
According to the announcement, 7Fresh Coffee's completely robotic experience reflects an emerging trend in the food and beverage industry, which focuses on efficiency and consumer convenience.
