'70s icon Fiesta Carnival to return by Christmas. Here's what we know so far

Fiesta Carnival—the popular amusement park in Araneta City (formerly Araneta Center) in Cubao during the '70s—is reportedly reopening by Christmas.

Fiesta Carnival 2.0 would be located on the former site of Shopwise, which is across the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The supermarket was moved to Gateway 2 Mall, the extension of the popular mall beside the coliseum.

The "FIESTA CARNIVAL" signage in rainbow colors has already been put up, but the place's garage doors are still shut tight.

Last August, Araneta Group Vice President for Leasing Lorna Fabian said Fiesta Carnival will open this October, though there are only 11 days left. Fabian invited the public to go to the carnival in time for the holiday season.

The carnival's location would be temporary, according to Fabian, as the former Shopwise site is poised to have residential and office buildings.

She said Fiesta Carnival would feature classic attractions like rides, bump cars, and carnival games, as well as stalls selling snacks and drinks.

In the '70s, Fiesta Carnival, dubbed "Manila's Disneyland," was the go-to place in the then-booming Quezon City.

It was shut down at the turn of the millennium after being eclipsed by indoor arcades, computer games, and larger theme parks.

In December 2022, Araneta City put up a mini version of the attraction called Mini Fiesta Carnival. It also had some of the original rides and sold snacks and drinks.
