McDonald's Quezon Avenue shuts down, customers recall fondest memories
All good things must come to an end. The famous Quezon Avenue branch of McDonald's has closed its doors on Dec. 22, Sunday.
In a Facebook post, the fast food chain said that on its final day, it held a "heartfelt afternoon of thanksgiving to bid farewell" to the branch, which was built 40 years ago.
"Beyond just a restaurant, McDo Quezon Avenue has been a place where feel-good moments happen and become lasting memories—for its customers, crew, and managers, past and present," it said.
"Thank you for the 40 years of feel-good moments together!" it also said in an art card that came with the post.
The brand also asked the public to share their fondest memories while dining in the branch.
One user recalled that it was where he and his wife ate their "first formal meal together as a couple" after their wedding.
"Our reception was held at Aberdeen Court yet we were not able to eat our meal properly due to the business of the event and other emotions during that memorable day," the user said. "It was so nostalgic that we kept coming back to this beloved branch whenever we can."
Another user recalled her eldest child and nephews frequenting the branch.
"Children’s birthday parties were always held here and my daughter learned to use the slide in this branch,” she said.
A grandchild recalled their lolo buying them milkshakes and burgers in the '80s.
Another user said she had her training in the branch in preparation for work at another branch in a mall. She was eventually promoted to manager and was part of the opening team of two branches.
"Good memories and best training ground for my present career!" she said.
McDonald's Philippines has over 700 branches nationwide.
