Sam Smith trends on the internet after fake stage dive video goes viral
Fans were quick to defend the singer Sam Smith over the viral video of a mistakenly labeled guy following a painful stage dive at a concert in Oregon on Saturday.
The British artist quickly went viral on Twitter when the clip was uploaded with the caption: “Sam Smith went to stage dive and nobody caught him.”
In the video on Tiktok, the mistakenly identified performer dressed up in a Ninja turtle costume was shown diving from a stage during the Vanilla Ice concert but wasn’t caught by audience members.

The supporters of the 31-year-old singer debunked the accusation when a clip from a different angle came to light.
“Despite various ACCOUNTS spreading false information, Sam Smith DID not stage dive at any Concert,” a fan wrote, clarifying the now trending video on the platform.
“worrying how many people genuinely thought it was Sam Smith in that stage dive clip,” another one added.
"I love @samsmith. And I dare everyone making fun of Stage-Diving-Not-Sam-Smith-Guy to show us their perfect bodies. Sam’s out there having the time of their life. And getting paid and adored for it," one wrote, defending the artist from becoming the talk of the town online.
Netizens may have been fooled by the video as Sam was recently on their Gloria tour but the rest of the shows were eventually postponed due to his vocal cords problem.
Fans took sympathy to the Grammy winner following the cancellation of their concert at the AO Arena in Manchester after just a few songs last May 25.
Sam recently received backlash shortly after releasing the controversial 'Unholy' music video for being "unhealthily liberating" by netizens.
The award-winning singer-songwriter is known for his top hits such as Too Good At Goodbyes, Stay With Me, and Fire on Fire.
