Authorities have apprehended a man from South Carolina who was accused twice of throwing a dog over a bridge and into the water. The reason? He was instructed to do so by “witches."

In a report by Fox News, the Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Officers received a call from a concerned citizen who saw a man tossing a dog from a bridge.

When officers arrived at the location, they caught sight of the man, identified to be 43-year-old Shannon Lee Cantrell, in the area below the bridge with his hand gripped tightly on a dog’s neck in a chokehold.

Police reported that while the dog was “clearly shaken” after being thrown off the bridge twice and was wet from being in the water, it did not show any visible injuries.

When questioned by the police, Cantrell gave an unexpected answer as he said that he was told by “witches” to toss the dog, which fell approximately 34 feet below the bridge.

Cantrell has now been arrested and imprisoned at the Spartanburg County Detention Center with charges of animal cruelty.

Meanwhile, the dog is now being assessed and cared for by the Greenville County Animal Care.
