MRT-3 offers Libreng Sakay for National ID holders this August
Got your National ID? You can use it to avail of free MRT rides this August!
In line with the commemoration of Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, the Department of Transportation MRT-3 has partnered with the Philippine Statistics Authority to offer Libreng Sakay every Wednesday throughout August.
Commuters can enjoy free rides on Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26 during peak rush hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As an added bonus, the treat continues on Sept. 16 for Global Identity Day.
To avail of this perk, passengers simply need to present any valid form of their National ID—whether it’s the physical ID card, the digital ID on a mobile device, or a printed ePhilID paper format—to station personnel.
If you haven’t registered for PhilSys yet, the PSA has set up National ID Registration booths directly inside the Araneta Center-Cubao and Taft Avenue stations until the end of August.
Commuters may register anytime from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays at the Taft Avenue Station, while those applying at the Araneta Center-Cubao station may also do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays.
Applicants should bring at least one primary document such as a PSA-issued Certificate of Live Birth and one (1) government ID with your name, photo, and signature; pangalan, litrato, at pirma; a Philippine Passport or ePassport; or a Unified Multi-purpose Identification (UMID) Card.
If in case you don't have any primary IDs, you can present these secondary documents:
- PSA/NSO Birth Certificate
- PRC ID / PhilHealth ID / TIN ID / SSS ID
- Voter’s ID / Postal ID / Senior Citizen ID / PWD ID
- NBI Clearance / Police Clearance / Solo Parent’s ID
- Barangay ID / Barangay Certificate
This joint initiative underscores the DOTr-MRT-3’s commitment to collaborating with government agencies to provide seamless, reliable, and rewarding public transport services for every Filipino.
