American actor Akili McDowell arrested for murder
Akili McDowell, who appeared in TV dramas like Billions and David Makes Man, has been charged and arrested with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a man in a parking lot.
According to a report by the Associated Press, the 21-year-old was involved in the death of 20-year-old Cesar Peralta at a Houston apartment complex in late July.
The Harris County sheriff’s office said McDowell stayed in prison Monday, Aug. 5 on a bond on the murder charge at $400,000 (over P23 million).
The actor’s manager, Jonell Whitt, called it an “unfortunate situation.”
“I am in prayer for Akili and those impacted by this tragedy,” she added.
Authorities said they responded to a report about an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds on July 20. According to them, multiple witnesses told deputies the victim got into a physical altercation with another man, “who fled on foot after the shooting,” AP reported.
Aside from Billions and David Makes Man, McDowell also became known for his roles in The Astronaut Wives Club and The Waterboyz, among others.
