ANC to remain on air after Sky Cable ends broadcast in February
Local news channel ANC will continue its operations after Sky Cable goes off the air in February.
The network made the announcement on social media on Monday, Jan. 29, stating that its programs will continue to broadcast both online and on pay TV.
"ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, will continue its operation after Sky Cable ends its operation on February 26 as recently announced," the statement read.
"ANC programs will continue to be seen on air through partner cable TV providers nationwide and online via the ANC 24/7 Youtube channel, the ABS-CBN news website (news.abs-cbn.com), and on social media. It will also be on iWantTFC and The Filipino Channel."
ANC was initially launched as the Sarimanok News Network (SNN) by ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Eugenio Lopez Jr. way back 1996. It was renamed to ANC three years later and has been airing through Sky Cable since day one.
Sky Cable, meanwhile, was launched as a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation in January 1992. It is signing off on Feb. 26, at 11:59 p.m., after 32 years of service in Filipino households.
Sky Cable is ceasing broadcast following PLDT's full acquisition of Sky Cable Corporation in 2023. It will cease its pay TV services as part of the company's "transition into a dedicated internet service provider."
In the announcement about its sign-off, Sky Cable said that Fiber subscribers can still "continue to enjoy the same fiber-fast internet service at the same monthly fees." Meanwhile, those with SKY Bundles will be converted to a Fiber plan.
Cable subscribers can learn more about the effect of the transition to their subscriptions by sending a message to Sky Cable's messaging platform KYLA or by visiting its cable centers.
