Mandarin Oriental Makati to reopen in December
The iconic Mandarin Oriental hotel in Makati is making a highly anticipated comeback.
On Tuesday, Ayala Land Hospitality announced the reopening of the redeveloped luxury hotel in December 2026, per PhilSTAR Property.
Long considered a major landmark in the Makati Central Business District, Mandarin Oriental Makati Manila will open its doors again over a decade after the original hotel, which opened in 1976, shuttered in 2014. It will be located around the same area it once stood, but this time, with the lush Ayala Triangle Gardens right beside it.
Ayala Land Creative Director Paloma Urquijo Zobel de Ayala compared the hotel's reopening to the homecoming of a loved one.
"It's the return of a beloved part of Makati's story, almost like a friend and a family member," she said during the hotel's media launch at the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2.
"Its return reflects not only the enduring appeal but also our vision of creating world-class city destinations that celebrate Filipino culture and foster meaningful connections," she added.
Franck Droin, general manager of Mandarin Oriental Makati Manila, maintained the hotel opening its doors again signifies an important step forward, while acknowledging its importance in the history of Makati City.
"It's not about recreating the past. It's about honoring a legacy while embracing the future," he said.
The redesigned, redeveloped hotel will have 275 guest rooms and suites, according to the hotel's website. Offerings will include deluxe and club deluxe rooms, junior and family suites, as well as a two-bedroom presidential suite.
Amenities will include an 800sqm spa and wellness floor and an outdoor pool with a view of Ayala Triangle Gardens. A grand hall big enough to accommodate up to 1,000 guests will stretch across 740sqm under eight-meter-high ceilings. For its business and corporate clients, there will be meeting rooms, boardrooms, and flexible event venues.
According to Droin, the construction is about 83% complete. Reservations will be available starting Dec. 14.
