A 270-degree ScreenX cinema is opening in the PH
A new cinema experience is set to delight Pinoy moviegoers.
CJ 4DPLEX, a South Korean company producing next-generation cinema technology, and SM Cinema will open the first ScreenX theater at the SM Mall of Asia.
At this type of cinema, films will be projected on a 270-degree panoramic screen, bringing a more immersive movie-watching experience.
"By expanding key scenes onto the left and right-side walls of the auditorium, ScreenX surrounds audiences with story-enhancing exclusive imagery that naturally fills their peripheral vision and immerses them into the narrative of the film," the description of the theater on the CJ 4DPLEX website reads.
The company's chief brand officer Don Savant said that ScreenX offers Pinoy audiences "a bold new way to experience film."
Currently, there are 435 ScreenX theaters in 40 countries.
There's no news yet about when the auditorium at SM MoA will open.
CJ 4DPLEX is also the company behind 4DX theaters, which create a multi-sensory viewing experience where films are brought to life with motion, vibration, water, and more. You can experience this at cinemas in Bonifacio Global City, Greenbelt 3, and UP Town Center.
Meanwhile, SM Cinema offers different cinema types including standard 2D, IMAX, Director's Club, Large Screen Format, and Atmos.
Ayala Malls also recently opened its A-Giant and A-Luxe cinemas with bigger screens.
