Maja Salvador opens up about her past fear of marriage
Filipino actress Maja Salvador, who recently married businessman Rambo Nuñez, bared that she had misgivings about settling down.
In an interview with Preview, Maja said she only grew up with her mother, as her parents separated when she was a baby. While she wanted to have a family of her own, she was concerned about her own future children.
“May takot talaga,” she's quoted as saying. “Pinagpe-pray [ko] na magtuloy-tuloy na ma-bless ako ng isang magandang marriage para hindi ma-experience ng mga anak ko kung ano ’yung na-experience ng mommy ko.”
With age, Maja's longtime fear regarding marriage lingered until Rambo came along.
“Magbabago talaga ’yun, pag nahanap mo ’yung tamang guy," she said. "Kahit na parang feeling mo, sobrang solid ka na sa desisyon mo na ayaw mo talaga."
As she navigates the married life, Maja is looking forward to having a work-life balance, especially since, she said, she's a workaholic.
Maja said she wanted to fulfill her role as a wife and eventually mother.
"’Yun ’yung pinaka dream role ko rin, sa lahat-lahat," she said.
Nevertheless, Maja said there are still a few movie offers on the table, which she'll attend after her honeymoon in Europe.
Maja and Rambo first got into a relationship in 2010, but called it quits a few months later. They confirmed their rekindled romance in March 2019 and announced their engagement in April 2022.
They tied the knot in a church wedding in Bali in Indonesia last Aug. 31, though Salvador said they already had a secret civil wedding last Valentine's Day.
