Heads up Iskolar ng Bayan!

The two major University of the Philippines (UP) campuses, Los Baños (UPLB) and Diliman (UPD), are now just one bus ride away from each other.

The university has partnered with provincial bus operator DLTB to revive a dedicated bus route connecting the two campuses.

According to UPLB, the partnership aims to provide a "more efficient, safe, and reliable" commuting option for UP constituents and members of the larger community.

“The organization of a direct commuter bus service connection is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the well-being of our community members, especially those who regularly travel between Los Baños and Diliman. We aim to provide a seamless, comfortable, and safer travel experience for everyone,” UPLB Vice Chancellor Roberto P. Cereno said in a statement.

The decision, which was coordinated with UPD’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and DLTB, came after the demand for a direct bus service between UPLB and UPD surged in recent months due to the increasing need for inter-campus coordination, research collaborations, and participation in university events.

Bus schedule

As per the UPLB website, the DLTB buses have routes on weekdays and Saturdays alongside key departure points established at Velasco Ave. loading and unloading bay near the UPLB main gate and at the Lakandula Extn. cor. Jacinto St. in UPD. Here's the schedule for the trips:

  • UPLB to UPD: 5 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6 p.m.
  • UPD to UPLB: 5 a.m., 9 a.m., and 6 p.m.

The regular fare is P165.

Meanwhile, in February, Tipaklong Sustainable Mobility, Corp., a bike rental business owned by UPLB graduates, provided a fleet of e-bikes and e-scooters for students to use. This effort is part of a green mobility initiative promoting more environment-friendly modes of transport in the university.
