Philippines named one of Condé Nast’s 40 most beautiful countries in the world for 2022
The Philippines has claimed a spot among the 40 most beautiful countries in the world, according to the luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
The renowned travel magazine recently listed their take on the 40 most beautiful countries in the world for 2022, taking into account the total count of animal species, the number of UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the amount of protected ecosystems.

According to the magazine, since it's tricky to rank countries, they based their list on the World Economic Forum's Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report. The survey ranks the world’s countries based on various factors, from safety to life expectancy and even natural resources.
Aside from pulling from the top 30 countries from the all-encompassing “natural resources” section, the Traveler editors also polled their personal picks, and included a few bonus countries, which they felt should be included.
Writer Caitlin Morton said that the various islands in the Phlippines “easily” number among the most beautiful in the world.
Some of the top tourist destinations recognized include the Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Palawan, the Chocolate Hills of Bohol Island, and the rice terraces of both Banaue and the Philippine Cordilleras.
“The Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Palawan encompasses mangrove forests, one of the world’s most impressive cave systems, and an underground river. The Chocolate Hills of Bohol Island consist of an estimated 1,776 grass-covered domes that are mysteriously uniform in shape. The rice terraces of both Banaue and the Philippine Cordilleras provide panoramic views of every shade of green imaginable,” Conde Naste author Morton wrote in the article.
Along with the Philippines, Condé Nast Traveler also praised other Asian countries such as Japan, Malaysia, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, and India. Also included in the list is Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, USA’s Grand Canyon, and Spain’s world-class beaches.
Last year, international travel site Big 7 Travel named Palawan as the second best island in the world, while the “tropical paradise” of Cebu placed 25th.
Condé Nast also previously named Boracay and El Nido among the 25 Best Island Beaches in the world.
