You can now rent the iconic 'Up' house via Airbnb—and yes, it floats

Can’t get enough of Disney-Pixar’s film Up? You can experience a special night that’s straight out of the movie as the iconic house is currently up for rent in New Mexico, US. It can even be suspended 50 feet above the ground, just like in the film.

On Wednesday, May 1, Airbnb announced that they have recreated iconic scenes in pop culture for their listings, including Carl’s house in the 2009 film.

Located in Abiquiu, New Mexico, guests will have the chance to relive the iconic scenes from the movie. Attached in it are 8,000 balloons that make it look similar to the place. It will not fly while guests are inside—they can, however, watch it get lifted by a crane 50 feet off the ground.

"I think we maybe won’t have them inside the house when we lift it, just for safety reasons," said CEO Brian Chesky, according to The Associated Press.

The whole place is a complete recreation of Carl and Ellie’s home in the movie—from its interior, memorabilia like their adventure book, green helium tank, and dog bed for their purr friend Dug, to the cozy porch where you can watch sunsets.

The location is also the perfect choice if you're in need of some peace and quiet as it is far from the big city.

“Please enjoy your stay, but don’t blame me if the house lifts off and floats to Paradise Falls. If that happens, you’re on your own!” Carl "wrote" on his listing.

Anyone can rent this place for a night for free, but the airfare to New Mexico, U.S. will not be covered.

To book a stay, interested guests would have to choose their preferred date, indicate the names of their companions, and answer the question on why they should be chosen to stay in the iconic house.

The rental site will randomly select potential guests and will review their answers from unique perspectives and connections to the icon. Winners will receive an invitation to book and will have 24 hours to complete their request.

Ensure you have an active Airbnb account and the app, and that you're a resident of an eligible country or region to participate. See the full rules here.

Note that requests to book the house will be accepted only until 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on May 13.

Hosted by Carl himself, the listing is part of the celebration for the 15th anniversary of the film. It's among the 11 “icons” created by Airbnb as part of their new campaign to sell experience. The lineup includes the VIP-only live lounge by comedian Kevin Hart, Inside Out 2’s “headquarters” of the mind, and the intimate living room for Doja Cat’s concert.
