ICYMI: Dunkin’ Philippines introduces ‘Number 1’—its first-ever robot server
The future is here—and it is serving coffee and donuts.
Dunkin’ Philippines welcomed 2022 with “Number 1”—its first-ever service bot that takes care of order distribution in select stores in the country.
To be attended by Number 1, just order and pay at the checkout counter and then proceed to your assigned table number. The robot server will deliver your order to you. As soon as you get your food, it “will be remotely instructed by its staff to leave the area.”
Number 1 is currently available in three branches: Aurora (Quezon City), SM North EDSA, and Robinsons Nova. Its introduction shows how robots have been a hot topic in the food industry on a global scale.
In Chicago, McDonald’s is looking into a robot-ordering service in select branches. Robot baristas are set to serve gourmet coffee in some MRT stations in Singapore this year. There’s also a new restaurant in Los Angeles where robotic machines are the ones making pizza in only a few minutes.
