NEW FINDS
This stylish 'Takeout Bag' is made of vintage textiles from a grandpa's collection
Vintage fabrics are taking on a new form as The Editor’s Market Philippines marks its first partnership with local label Play Nice.
Known for its small-batch Takeout Bags, Play Nice brings pieces made from deadstock textiles sourced from the founder’s grandfather’s personal collection into the retail space.
The brand recently shared the partnership on social media, offering a first look at the exclusive designs now available in-store.
The Editor’s Market Philippines team was closely involved in selecting fabrics from the archive that resonated with them. “They saw the beauty in our grandfather’s textiles, and watching them enjoy the process has made us even more excited about future collaborations,” Play Nice said.
The Takeout Bags use textiles dating from the 1970s to the early 2000s, many of which were produced by mills that no longer exist. Because the brand works exclusively with vintage and deadstock materials, each bag is naturally limited. Production remains small-batch, with every piece handcrafted by artisans.
The partnership was nearly a year in the making. “When they first reached out, we weren’t yet in a position to take it on without compromising the pace and care that define our design process,” Play Nice explained. “Now, we can make a little more than usual but every bag is still handcrafted and made slowly.”
“Play Nice is an homage to our grandfather's decades-old textile business,” the brand added. “When we decided to go through his personal collection, we knew we had to do something special with them.”
The Play Nice Takeout Bags range from P5,300 to P6,200 and are available at The Editor’s Market Philippines’ Glorietta 2 store.
