Looking to explore China soon? Here's some good news.
Filipino travelers who are going to China may enjoy a 25% discount on Chinese visa fees until Dec. 31.
According to a report by Reuters, the discount also applies to countries like Thailand, Japan, Mexico, and Vietnam.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the move aims to increase inbound travel to boost China’s economy, which was ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"China welcomes measures aimed at facilitating cross-border travel,” spokesman Wang Wenbin said. “We stand ready to work with relevant countries to create favorable conditions and provide greater convenience for easy cross-border travel.”
Yao Jianhong, deputy director general of the Xiamen municipal government foreign affairs office, said in a dinner with Philippine media that he’s looking forward to welcoming more Filipinos to China.
Nikkei Asia reported that on Dec. 1, China expanded its 15-day visa-free entry policy to six more countries, including Italy and France.
It was previously limited to Singapore and Brunei.
