New offerings at Izakaya Geronimo

I started going to Izakaya Geronimo when it opened in late 2023. Food is delicious, and the drinks are great! The soon-to-be three-year-old popular establishment in BGC, known for its fusion take on Japanese, just released a new menu, featuring old favorites like their signature ramen, yakitori, and salads, as well as new dishes conceptualized by their culinary consultant chef Tetsuya Honda. 

Honda designed the menu around iconic Japanese dishes and fresh takes on izakaya signatures. He is a seasoned culinary leader and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience spanning restaurant operations, concept development, and multi-format cuisine. Prior to designing their new menu, he worked as a consultant, guiding multiple restaurant launches and developing both in-store and e-commerce food products.

His foundation is rooted in extensive hands-on kitchen and leadership experience. From 2014 to 2021, he rose from head chef to general manager, overseeing diverse dining formats including yakiniku, teppanyaki, Chinese cuisine, and premium nikukappo establishments. During this time, he successfully launched 10 restaurants and led end-to-end operations, from menu development and sourcing to recruitment and hygiene management.

Those new dishes include reasonably priced lunch sets, a new offering at Izakaya Geronimo, as well as sushi and nigiri, starting at only P70 per piece. Soba starts at P450, while their new dish nokke, raw fish stacked on top of a set of sushi, goes for P400. One of my favorites is the mentaiko (Pollock roe) toast for only P100!

Izakaya Geronimo aims to be a lunch-friendly, easy-on-the-pocket establishment for lunch, with its variety of lunch sets, a go-to for friends and family for dinner, and a sought-after spot for after-dinner drinks (think yuzu highball or bottles of crisp Sapporo beer). The lunch sets are filling… Some have rice, some have noodles. They have a variety to choose from, but my favorite is the gindara (black cod or sablefish)! Check out these new specials!
