'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel in early development
A sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is officially in the works!
According to a report by Variety, Kate Hudson, who starred in the original movie as Andie, is attached to the upcoming sequel film as the producer, alongside Stacey Sher, who also worked on the films Pulp Fiction, Gattaca, and Django Unchained.
Details about the plot are still being finalized and are under wraps, and cast members have yet to be announced. Per the report, the filmmakers hope to see Hudson and her co-star, Matthew McConaughey, who played Benjamin, reprise their roles.
The 2003 film follows magazine writer Andie (Hudson), who chooses Ben (McConaughey) as the subject of her latest article, which explores how to drive a man away in 10 days. Ben, meanwhile, sets out to prove he can make any woman fall for him in the same amount of time. Their plans backfire when they unexpectedly fall for each other.
Other cast members include Kathryn Hahn, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, Michael Michele and Shalom Harlow.
In 2023, Hudson and McConaughey reunited for an Instagram Live marking the film’s 20th anniversary. Hudson joked about their on-screen chemistry, saying, “[With] respect to our now-partners, we do kiss nicely,” adding, “It was always a very nice kiss.”
McConaughey attributed their chemistry to their shared humor and ability to improvise, saying, “We enjoy going toe-to-toe.”
Hudson agreed, explaining, “I think maybe it has something to do with our freedom. I feel like we’re both very free,” and adding, “There’s something spontaneous about the way we were able to work together."
