Trouble in paradise in Thailand: What you need to know about ‘The White Lotus’ season 3
The official teaser of the third season of The White Lotus is now out and fans get a longer glimpse at the new set of vacationers.
The third iteration of the series will continue to follow the guests and employees of the White Lotus resort chain. As each day passes, their supposed relaxing stay in paradise unleashes their dark and most privileged impulses.
Where is season 3 set?
Each season, the show is set in a different property of the fictional hotel brand. After going to Hawaii and Sicily, now, the series is set in Thailand.
"The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” show creator Mike White said at the end of the Season 2 finale. “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
The Four Seasons and Max confirmed in October 2024 that the upcoming season was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui.
Who is in the cast?
The new ensemble consists of Walton Goggins as Rick Hatchett who is traveling with his free-spirited girlfriend Chelsea, played by Aimee Lou Wood, reunited trio Carrie Coon as Laurie, Michelle Monaghan as Jaclyn, and Leslie Bibb as Kate.
Also returning to the series is Natasha Rothwell who will reprise her role as Belinda Lindsey, a spa manager who is in Thailand for an exchange program.
Also joining the cast is Jason Isaacs, who plays Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman, his wife Victoria, played by Parker Posey, and their three children played by Patrick Schwarzenegger (Saxon), Sarah Catherine Hook (Piper), and Sam Nivola (Lochlan).
What is Lisa's role?
BLACKPINK's Lisa was announced as part of the show in February. This will be the K-Pop idol's acting debut and she'll be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal.
Lisa will play Mook, one of the health mentors for guests at The White Lotus Hotel.
She's seen welcoming the guests to the hotel along with other staff members.
What will The White Lotus season 3 be about?
The teaser gave a glimpse of what fans can expect in the upcoming season: characters indulging in the beautiful hotel until chaos breaks out. Things take a darker turn as the clip shows a shot of a gun, a body bag, and police on the property.
“Everyone runs from pain towards pleasure. But they get there only to find more pain,” a Buddhist monk said in the trailer.
“Something’s off,” “What the f**k is this place?” another voice heard in the background.
