Apple updates audio lineup with new AirPods Pro 3 with improved ANC, live translation

Apple has finally refreshed its AirPods Pro lineup.

At its "Awe dropping" event on Sept. 9, the tech giant unveiled the AirPods Pro 3, which feature improved Active Noise Cancellation and live translation.

The device features the same look as its predecessor, released in 2022, with silicone ear tips at the edge of each earbud and a charging case with holes on the side for a lanyard loop.

However, Apple noted that the new AirPods Pro 3 are smaller to fit more ear types. It will also come with new foam-infused ear tips in five sizes.

'Best ANC'

These new ear tips, according to the tech giant, contribute to enhancing Active Noise Cancellation in the new device, which is now two times better than the AirPods Pro 2.

The company also noted that the difference between the AirPods Pro 3 vs the first AirPods Pro is "night and day," as the latest refresh offers "over-the-ear headphone performance in a pocket design."

There are also improvements to Transparency, as users' own voices, as well as the people they're speaking to, will sound more natural to help them stay connected to their surroundings.

Live translation

One of the highlight features of the AirPods Pro 3 is Live Translation powered by Apple Intelligence, which lets you easily communicate with people speaking a different language hands-free. This feature comes in handy when you're traveling to a different country.

According to Apple, this feature doesn't just translate individual words, but the meaning of each phrase.

The AirPods Pro 3 can also record and translate your response and display the words in other languages on your iPhone.

Live Translation on AirPods will first be available in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Apple says that it will add more languages later in the year, including Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified).

More durable earbuds

Despite the AirPods Pro 3's smaller body, the tech company enhanced its durability with an IP57 sweat and water resistance, so it can handle workouts and unpredictable weather.

As it's more workout-ready, Apple has equipped these buds with a custom heart rate sensor to measure statistics. With this, users will be able to track 50 different exercises, their calories burned, and their heart rate with just the new AirPods Pro 3.

These new earbuds also get an extended eight-hour battery life, so users can listen to tunes without needing a charge during a long-haul flight.

Meanwhile, the devices can last for up to 10 hours in transparency mode with hearing aid enabled. In last year's Apple event, Apple announced that the AirPods Pro 2 can be used as hearing aids.

The AirPods Pro 3 will be available in the Philippines for P14,990.

Apple also introduced the new iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3 during the event.
