WATCH: 'Euphoria' Season 3 trailer gives first look at Eric Dane's final role before his death
The trailer for the third season of Euphoria gave a first glimpse of Eric Dane's final role before he died.
Released on Monday, March 30, the new trailer starts with Rue (Zendaya) being interrogated by drug enforcement agents as she enters Mexico. A flashback shows she had ingested fruits containing drugs as a mule.
Five years after high school, Jules (Hunter Schafer) finds her way in the art scene. Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) get married in a formal ceremony while the former is drawn into her adult content escapades by the sudden return of Maddie (Alexa Damie). Lexie (Maude Apatow) plays a creative assistant to an unnamed showrunner, reportedly played by Sharon Stone.
At the latter part of the trailer, Eric Dane's Cal is seen reuniting with Jules after a one-night stand in the first season. Dane will reportedly have an appearance in all Season 3 episodes, marking his last performance before he died at 53 in February after a battle with ALS.
Chaos ensues as Rue is chased by those she owes money to, and the narrative spirals into twists and turns—a plot described by showrunner Sam Levinson as a "wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption and the problem of evil."

Also returning with the primary cast of Season 3 are Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo, and Dominic Fike. An ensemble of newcomers includes Rosalía, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Marshawn Lynch, among others.
The first two seasons of Euphoria followed the struggles of teenage drug addict Rue as she finds her place in the world.
The new season is set to premiere on HBO Max on April 12.
