The official trailer of the highly-anticipated animated adaptation of Filipino graphic novel Trese by Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo is finally out.

Streaming giant Netflix today released the first trailer in Filipino featuring the voice of Liza Soberano, who portrays lead character Alexandra Trese. The anime series based on the award-winning Filipino comic will premiere on the streaming platform on June 11.

The Alone/Together star previously expressed her happiness and excitement to be part of the proejct when the voice cast was announced earlier this year.

"Screaming on the inside!!!!!! It’s an honor to be the voice of an iconic character such as Alexandra Trese. I’m a huge fan of Budjette and KaJO’s award-winning Trese comics. Maraming salamat! Excited nako!" she tweeted.

Soberano immediately shared the trailer on social media posted by the streamer at 9:00 a.m. on Friday in Manila.

"Simulan na natin. Andito na ang pinakahihintay na patikim sa TRESE, unang silip sa kabilang mundo. Sa ika-11 ng Hunyo, mabubunyag ang nakatago," Netflix Philippines captioned their social media post.

The two-minute-long trailer showcases gorgeous animation and action-packed scenes set in Manila depicting titular character, Alexandra, battling Manila’s malevolent supernatural creatures like tiyanaks with her trusty companions, the “Kambal” (Twins).

Trese will have both a Filipino and an English dub when it drops on Netflix this June. The first official trailer released is dubbed in Filipino and features the voice of Soberano.

Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell steps in for voice-acting duties for the lead in the English version of the Netflix Original anime series. The official English version of the trailer was also shared by Netflix Anime on Friday, which you can watch below for comparison.

The official trailer’s release comes a day after screenshots surfaced online taken from a 12-second clip teaser of Trese taken from the June 2021  “New on Netflix” feature. The highlight reels gives viewers previews of the series and movies that will be released in June.

A netizen shared a full list of the voice cast in both the Filipino and English versions of the series via Twitter as a reaction to the newly released trailer. The English version notably features several Hollywood actors of Filipino descent including Darren Cris, Dante Basco, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
