80-year-old Batangas governor marries lawyer who is almost 50 years younger than him
Batangas governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas, 80, tied the knot with lawyer Angelica Chua, who is almost 50 years younger than him.
Nice Print Photography shared snaps from their modern Filipiniana-themed wedding held on Wednesday, May 8 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Concepcion in Batangas City.
The ceremony was followed by a grand reception at the courtyard of the provincial capitol, designed by events stylist Gideon Hermosa with Amanda Tirol as their wedding planner.
"I came here not only of my own free will, but full of love," the politician said in his wedding vows, as seen in a video shared by ABS-CBN News.
"We are both ready to raise as good Christians, the children who God will give us. That is really the essence of our union, of our marriage: to have children who we would raise in a Christian way," he added.
For her part, Chua said in her vows: “I’ve had my heart broken so many times that I guarded up and raised my standards so high, so high [that] no one was supposed to reach it so I won’t get hurt again, until you came.”
"I thank you for having the courage to ask me to be your Valentine and for choosing to spend the rest of your life with me," she added.
Among the notable personalities who attended the affair were Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Pampanga district representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and First Lady Liza Marcos.
Dodo Mandanas used to be a member of the House of Representatives and is currently serving as the governor of Batangas. He was previously married to Anakalusugan Party-list nominee Regina Reyes, who passed away in 2022.
Chua, meanwhile, is a lawyer specializing in taxation, data privacy, and aviation. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ateneo Law School.
