Here’s another TV series to watch out for, horror fans!

According to a report by entertainment outlet Variety, the classic horror film Poltergeist is currently in its early development for a TV adaptation.

It is set to be produced by Darryl Frank and Justine Falvey of Amblin Television, the same company that produced the original film in 1982. They are set to collaborate with Amazon MGM Studios.

More details including its plot and writer are yet to be revealed.

Following the success of the premiere of the original film, garnering $121 million (over P8 billion) worldwide and bagging three awards from Academy Awards—best visual effects, best sound effects editing, and best original score—the film birthed two sequels in 1986 and 1988.

The original film also had a reboot in 2015 which starred Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris, among others.

It first had its TV adaptation in 1999 dubbed Poltergeist: The Legacy which followed the story of the group called “The Legacy” making efforts to save mankind from forces of evil. It ran for four seasons.

Poltergeist tells the story of the Freeling family who were about to start a new life in their new home—haunted by evil ghosts. After ghosts kidnaped their youngest daughter, they embarked on a thrilling yet eerie rescue journey with the help of a parapsychologist and a spiritual medium.
