Dolly Parton ‘gets a dose of her own medicine’ with Moderna vaccine she helped fund
Vaccine, vaccine.
Iconic country singer Dolly Parton has been given the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine variant she helped fund.
Taking to Twitter to announce her Moderna vaccination, the singer posted updates with the hilariously apt caption. “Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine”. In another three-minute video, she shared, "I'm so excited. I've been waiting a while. I'm old enough to get it, and I'm smart enough to get it."
The singer even made a new rendition of her hit song Jolene to commemorate the occasion—and urged people to get vaccinated too.
“Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine / “I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate,” she croons. “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine / because once you’re dead, then that’s a bit too late.”

ICYDK, Parton donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center last year, which eventually worked with pharmaceutical company Moderna to develop the COVID-19 vaccine with an almost 95% efficacy rate.
The research team furthered that Parton’s initial donation was crucial in the vaccine development’s early stages.
“I'm just happy that anything I do can help somebody else. When I donated the money to the COVID fund, I just wanted it to do good and evidently, it is," she shared when news of Moderna's efficacy rates was released last November.
Later on in the Twitter video, Parton advised viewers that “I just want to say to all of you cowards out there: don’t be such a chicken squat. Get out there and get your shot.”
After getting her first jab, the 75-year-old proudly proclaimed: “That didn’t hurt.”
