Is Gossip Girl coming back with its original cast?
After being inactive for three months, Gossip Girl updated its social media pages on Tuesday, May 16 with a snap showing the original cast—Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass, Taylor Momsen (Jennifer Humphrey), and Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald).
“Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. #GossipGirl,” the caption read.
The show's fans expressed their excitement over its potential comeback, with majority of them hoping that it will feature the original cast. An Instagram user wrote in the comment section: “I am so sorry but if Gossip Girl comes back with the original cast, I will officially isolate from the world and never come back because I will have achieved perfect happiness.”
“No more reboots please, we need the original gossip girl,” another one commented.
Gossip Girl, which ran from 2007 to 2012, revolves around the lives privileged teens on the Upper East Side of New York who "can hide no secret from the ruthless blogger who is always watching." It had a reboot in 2021 on HBO Max with a new cast, but it only ran for two seasons.
