Apple to reportedly unveil next generation of iPad this week

Apple is reportedly unveiling the 11th generation iPad this week, as early as Oct. 17 (US time).

According to reports by 9to5Mac and Supercharged, updates will likely focus more on minor technical improvements than significant redesigns for the iPad Air, iPad mini, and basic model iPad.

In October 2022, Apple released a new lineup of iPads, including the iPad Pro with an M2 chip and an entirely redesigned 10th-generation entry-level iPad. This week's anticipated updates will include minor changes to the specifications and updated faster chips for the models.

According to reports, the M2 chip will replace the M1 chip in the current-generation iPad Air. Meanwhile, Apple's new Silicon chips are likely to be released in the upcoming iPad Air and iPad Mini models.

In addition to this, Apple is rumored to be working on a solution for the "jelly scrolling" problem, which makes the material appear choppy and laggy, with the upcoming iPad mini.

The iPad base model got the most recent update in the portfolio a year ago. In the tenth-generation model, Touch ID side buttons, a new, thin bezel design, and brilliant colors were also introduced. It is powered by an A14 Bionic chip.

The announcements will be made via Apple's website and YouTube channel rather than at a high-profile hybrid event for major product releases. Apple previously announced the Mac mini, M2 Pro, and M2 Max Macbook Pros, as well as the most recent iPad Pro using the M2 chip, through press releases on its website.
