If you grew up in the ‘90s, there’s a chance that you’ve spent some years of your childhood raising digital pets on your Tamagotchi. These toys from Japan became an instant hit to kids all around the world, most especially to those who were not allowed by their parents to raise their own pets.

But as years passed by, these virtual pets gradually lost its charm and inevitably became part of the remnants of the ‘90s. But we’ve not seen the last of them – thankfully, as the iconic toys from Japan made a much-awaited comeback last year, sending waves of nostalgia across the globe.

Now, after almost a year since its reemergence, Bandai is set to unleash another surge of ‘90s nostalgia with the release of Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed Tamagotchis.

The limited edition ‘Evatchi’ will come in three variants: Eva-01 Test Type, Eva-02 Production Model, and Eva-00’ Proto Type. Fans of the Japanese mecha anime can nurture 20 different angels which all appeared throughout the series. However, if you neglect them, the angels will form an Absolute Terror Field and close their hearts.

The launch of the Evangelion Tamagotchis is part of the promotion of the upcoming film release of Evangelion 3.0+1.0, the final installment in director Anno Hideaki’s Rebuild of Evangelion, which is slated to be released in Japan on June 27, 2020.
