Want to express your love for bicycles while still staying safe at home?

Check out this incredibly detailed functional miniature bicycle kit made of LEGO that you could actually build at home in the future—provided it gets enough votes.

LEGO creator SleepyCow submitted the awesome design kit to the LEGO Ideas program, featuring a buildable mini-bike that comes with realistic brakes, handlebars and suspension. It even has a clipabble GPS navigation system, a water bottle, and a tiny U-lock presumably to prevent mini-thieves from stealing the cool ride.

The LEGO Ideas program invites users to submit creative ideas for actual Lego products that could be turned into sets available commercially, with the original designer receiving one percent of the royalties, if their idea generates enough interest.

According to the designer, the inspiration behind this particular build was the popularity of bicycle transportation around the world.

Bicycles! One of the most common forms of transportation on Earth, with more than one billion in existence and over 50 percent of the human population regularly riding bicycles. You can now build your own bicycle with 950 authentic LEGO bricks (including bike stand and accessories)!,” reads the product description.

The model features a sturdy bike frame, comfortable saddle, working drivetrain, half chain guard, realistic pedal and crank arm, functional freewheel mechanism, working pneumatic front and rear disc brakes, adjustable handlebars, spring loaded kickstand, to name a few. It even has various bike-related accessories such as a bike bell, bike light, realistic spoke wheel, rear bike rack, bike GPS, drink bottle rack, rear deflector, U lock and bike stand.

I believe that this working bicycle model appeals to a vast audience, ranging from curious young kids to nostalgic adults. This build is the perfect size for a display model. With less than 1000 pieces, it is also the perfect medium set for LEGO newcomers, both in terms of price and building experience,” says the builder.

The Working LEGO Bicycle is currently listed on the LEGO Ideas site and if it gets enough votes this project could become an official LEGO product.

As of this writing, the build has reached 3,000-plus of the needed 10,000 supporters before it’s considered for an expert review. So if you think this design is worthy of becoming an actual LEGO set, you can check out the campaign’s page and show your support.

It's worth noting that both biking and LEGO building have boomed as hobbies in the Philippines the past year due to the pandemic.

Previous fan-made LEGO Ideas sets winners that have gone into actual development include the LEGO Typewriter, the Seinfeld 30th Anniversary set and a 3D LEGO set that reimagines the painting “The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh, to name a few.
