Matty Juniosa finishes 4th in 'Britain's Got Talent'
Filipino singer Matty Juniosa has placed fourth in the final of Britain's Got Talent season 19.
During the competition's finale on May 30, the Pinoy sang a cover of Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U.
Juniosa's dazzling performance saw him clad in a stylish black suit on a stage shaped like the letter "M."
He was seen emotional after he sang, as he received a standing ovation from the four judges.
"I'm glad we're not the ones voting tonight, because after that performance, you also could win the whole show," judge Alesha Dixon said. Viewers vote on the winner of the BGT finale. "You finished it off in style. First-class vocal. It's as good as it gets."
"It was perfection," added fellow Amanda Holden. "You nailed it. You're a star."
KSI, for his part, noted how "incredible" Juniosa is.
"You've gone viral before. You are about to go viral again after that performance," he said.
Simon Cowell echoed the praises, saying, "I think we've all fallen in love with you from the minute we first met you—your personality, your talent, and you're not afraid to take on these big songs. For someone like you, always on the back of your head is 'I gotta hit the big note.' Every time, you hit the big note and then above."
Ten acts performed at the final, and at the end of the night, Juniosa finished fourth, following Anastasia Beaumont and Salsa in third and Celestial in second.
The Hawkstone Farmers Choir won the show, taking home the grand prize of £250,000 (P20.7 million).
After the competition, Juniosa made quips on his Instagram Stories.
"Me knowing I placed [fourth] on BGT which is Beyonce's birthday and I'm very proud of that," he jested, adding that he'll make a video message thanking everyone who voted and supported him.
Juniosa's run on the show began with him earning a golden buzzer from Cowell for his rendition of Prince's Purple Rain. During the live shows, he got another golden buzzer from Holden for his cover of Aerosmith's Dream On.
Juniosa moved to Glasgow a few years ago to pursue further studies in musical theater at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. While a student, he supported himself as a part-time waiter. He also performed in several musical theater productions, including Hunchback of Notre Dame, Kinky Boots, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and NeZha.
He recently joined the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar in its upcoming West End production.
