One of the only two Y-wing starfighter hero props and Princess Leia’s iconic gold bikini, which appeared in the classic 70s and 80s Star Wars films, were sold at whopping prices at an American auction.

Heritage Auctions recently announced that the Y-wing starfighter, created by the Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) team which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for Star Wars, was sold for $1.55 million (P90 million). It was designed by Colin Cantwell, based on the rough description of the film’s director George Lucas.

ICYDK, the Y-wing starfighter, helped Luke Skywalker destroy the Death Star in the 1977 film, Star Wars: A New Hope

According to the auction house, the original model was not used in the films The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi so its original paint and detailing are still intact from Star Wars. They added that it has not been used on public display or exposed to UV daylight.

Another highlight of the collection is Princess Leia’s iconic gold bikini which was sold at $175,000 (P10 million), complete with a bikini brassiere, bikini plates, hip rings, an armlet, and a bracelet that belonged to the collection of Richard Miller, chief sculptor of ILM. The ensemble appeared in the 1983 film, the Return of Jedi.

Other items featured at the Heritage auction included the final movie poster artwork for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home by Bob Peak, The Matrix’s Joe Pantoliano "Cypher" suit from the steak dinner scene, and Muhammad Ali’s signed contract.

The Star Wars universe’s latest addition to its film franchise is The Acolyte which premiered in June.

For Filipino fans, a Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert will be coming to Manila on Sept. 7 and 8 at The Theater at Solaire where fans can enjoy the iconic soundtrack of the sci-fi films.
