Catch the event as it broadcasts live from the US on November 21 at 9 a.m. (Philippine time) in the comfort of your home only on Lionsgate Play, powered by the country’s fastest broadband PLDT Home.
The AMAs is a prestigious awards ceremony recognizing today’s best musical artists, as voted by the public.
Viral Puerto Rican rapper-singer Bad Bunny leads the pack of AMA nominees with a total of eight nominations, including the prestigious Artist of the Year award, Favorite Male Pop Artist, Favorite Music Video for his song “Me Porto Bonito” with fellow Puertorriqueño Chencho Corleone, and Favorite Pop Album for his latest release Un Verano Sin Ti.
Last year’s Artist of the Year awardee, the sensational K-pop boy group BTS looks to make AMAs history anew at this year’s event with two nominations: Favorite Pop Duo/Group and Favorite K-pop Artist—a new category introduced this year.
Meanwhile, American pop icon Taylor Swift and legendary queen of R&B Beyoncé stay close to Bad Bunny with six different nods each, making them the top female nominees of the entire awards slate. Swift and Beyoncé are both in the running for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Pop Artist, and Favorite Pop Album for Red (Taylor’s Version) and Renaissance, respectively.
Chart-topping Canadian rapper Drake is also vying for the prestigious Artist of the Year, as he gets his sixth nomination for the award. He also had a good year as he scores other nominations for Favorite Male Pop Artist, Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite R&B Song, and Favorite Collaboration for “WAIT FOR U” with Future and Tems. British soul singer Adele is no slouch either as she is competing not only in five different categories, but also for Artist of the Year—her third such nomination, proving her staying power on the charts and airwaves. Her record-breaking single “Easy On Me” received a nomination for Favorite Pop Song and Favorite Music Video, while her much-heralded album 30 is in the running for Favorite Pop Album. On top of all that, she is also in contention for Favorite Female Pop Artist.
Hosted by actor and presenter Wayne Brady, this year’s AMAs will see a variety of showstopping musical performances featuring today’s popular musicians.
On the slate is a number by hitmaking singer-songwriter and previous AMA nominee Charlie Puth and R&B singer Ari Lennox, who along with music legends Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie, will perform a medley of Richie’s greatest songs.
Meanwhile, today’s trending hits are also part of the lineup. Multiplatinum rapper Lil Baby, who has been nominated in the 2020 and 2021 AMAs for New Artist of the Year, Favorite Hip-Hop Artist, and Favorite Hip-Hop album, will perform a medley of his recent hits “California Breeze” and “In A Minute.” Award-winning DJ David Guetta, who has been previously nominated in the AMAs for Favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist in 2012 and 2015, will team up with fellow AMA-nominated pop artist Bebe Rexha to perform their Billboard-topping song “I’m Good (Blue).”
In a special performance, pop veteran and eight-time AMA nominee P!NK will pay tribute to a fellow icon in the late Olivia Newton-John, who passed from a long battle with breast cancer last August.
