Remember Sailor Moon backpack girl on ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7?’ She’s now a member of K-pop girl group Kep1er

Remember the adorable Sailor Moon backpack kid who stole our hearts in the Korean film Miracle in Cell No. 7? Well, her name is Kang Yeseo, she’s now 16 years old and a member of the K-pop girl group Kep1er. 

Before debuting as a K-pop idol, Yeseo took on several gigs as a child actress. One of her most notable roles to date is the charming Jiyoung in the popular film. She’s the daughter of a chief police commissioner and she owns the infamous yellow Sailor Moon backpack.

Back in 2019, Yeseo was added to the K-pop girl group Busters Beta as the main vocalist, lead dancer, and visual. However, the group disbanded in 2020. 

But that’s not the end of her K-pop stint. Yeseo also competed in the Korean survival show Girls Planet 999 where she finished at the sixth rank, making her one of the members of project girl group Kep1er.

She even recreated her iconic “Did you buy the bag, the Sailor Moon bag” scene in Miracle in Cell No. 7 in her introduction video. 

Yeseo has certainly come a long way. After months of preparation, she debuted as Kep1er’s maknae (youngest member) early this month with the energetic pop-dance track WA DA DA.

Kep1er is a nine-member project girl group managed by WAKEONE Entertainment and Swing Entertainment. The members are composed of Yujin, Mashiro, Xiaoting, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Youngeun, and Yeseo.

Since Kep1er is a project girl group, they will promote for two years and six months.
