WATCH: ‘Girls Planet 999’ girl group Kep1er makes explosive debut with ‘WA DA DA’

Kep1er has finally made their highly-anticipated debut. 

Kep1er is a nine-member project girl group formed through the survival audition series Girls Planet 999. The group is composed of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese members, namely, Kim Chaehyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yujin, Kim Dayeon, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo, Ezaki Hikaru, Sakamoto Mashiro, and Shen Xiaoting.

The energetic pop-dance track WA DA DA is the debut title track of Kep1er. The music video, which showed off the girl group’s refreshing vibes and teamwork, and single album were released on Monday, Jan. 3. 

We’ll run faster than anyone else / To the place we’ve been picturing,” Chaehyun sang powerfully in the song’s refrain. 

The girl group was originally set to debut in December 2021, however, it was postponed when members Mashiro and Xiaoting were infected with COVID-19 during debut preparations. 

During Kep1er’s debut showcase, leader Yujin revealed that she’s “very excited and happy” to make her debut. Yujin is also a member of Cube Entertainment girl group CLC. 

The nine members of Kep1er were selected out of 99 trainees from South Korea, Japan, and China in Girls Planet 999. The members competed in various challenges including vocal, dance, and concept, among others.
