Who runs the K-pop world? Girl groups.

At least, that’s what it seems from the upcoming K-pop groups that are set to debut by the end of the year and in 2022. The K-pop world is not short of producing names that have the potential to dominate the industry and it looks like these five groups have a bright future ahead.

Take a look at the five girl groups that are preparing to take over the industry below.

IVE (Starship Entertainment)

Starship Entertainment, home of groups like Sistar and MONSTA X, is set to debut IVE—its first girl group after five years. The six-member girl group reportedly “has it all, from visuals, skills, to star quality.” The group’s name is a shortened version of “I HAVE,” showing off their “confident” appearance.

The three members who are confirmed to join are former IZ*ONE members An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung and Starship trainee Gaeul, as of this writing. The remaining three members and debut date haven’t been revealed at the moment.

Kep1er (WAKE ONE Entertainment)

Kep1er is a nine-member girl group formed through the reality survival show Girls Planet 999. It’s composed of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese members, namely, Kim Chaehyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yujin, Kim Dayeon, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo, Ezaki Hikaru, Sakamoto Mashiro, and Shen Xiaoting.

The girl group recently had their first VLive where they talked about their goals together. The debut date and their official profile photos haven’t been released, as of this writing.

Billlie (Mystic Story)

There’s something about Billlie’s Stranger Things-inspired trailer which makes them one of the most awaited girl groups in the K-pop industry. Formerly known as Mystic Girls, the six-member group will make their debut on Nov. 10.

The group is composed of six members, namely, Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Siyoon, and Haruna.

JYP Entertainment’s new girl group

It’s actually surprising for JYP Entertainment to debut a girl group soon after teen crush group ITZY, but it seems like the agency is confident that it would keep up with their current lineup of artists. Last month, a teaser featuring the group’s working name “We Are SQU4D” has been released.

Details of the girl group are still under wraps. Even so, JYP Entertainment released “qualifying videos” introducing trainees Bae, Jiwoo, Kyujin, Sullyoon, and Jinni—who will probably be part of the group’s lineup.

HYBE and Source Music will reportedly debut a girl group “in the second half of 2021.” Former IZ*ONE members Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chaewon and Korean survival show Produce 48 alum Heo Yunjin are part of the group’s lineup

While the two entertainment agencies have yet to confirm the details, seeing Sakura, Chaewon, and Yunjin together in a group will surely be sensational.
