The upcoming Video Music Awards (VMAs) is happening soon, and MTV has announced the first set of artists who will perform.

American singer-songwriter Demi Lovato is set to appear on stage for the first time in six years since her last VMA appearance. In 2012, she won Best Video with a Message and was nominated for Best Pop and Video for Good.

Meanwhile, VMA rookies are also joining the stage. Korean group Stray Kids will make their debut at the VMAs as they also compete for their first MTV Moon Person for "Best K-Pop," the same category that led to their first nomination for the "VMAs" in 2022.

KAROL G will also make her first-ever visit to the event. She made a record by becoming the first woman to ever have a Spanish-language album debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with a Spanish-language album.

And finally, Italian rock band Måneskin is scheduled for their highly anticipated return to the MTV stage for the world premiere performance of their upcoming new single HONEY (ARE YOU COMING?), which is set for release on Sept. 1.

The 2023 VMAs are set to happen on September 12 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The hosts have not yet been announced.

Taylor Swift leads the awards show with 8 nominees, followed by SZA with 6. Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith are tied at five nominations each, while K-pop group BLACKPINK, Diddy, and Shakira have four each.
