LIST: Here are the nominees for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

The nominees for this year's MTV Video Music Awards are out.

The awards show released its annual list of nominations on Wednesday, Aug. 9 to honor the biggest names and video projects in the music industry that stood out in the past year. 

Taylor Swift led the 2023 MTV VMA nominations with eight nods, including Best Direction and Artist of the Year.

Kill Bill singer SZA earned six nominations, while Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Doja CatKim Petras, Nicki Minaj, and Sam Smith tie with five. K-pop group BLACKPINK, Shakira, and Diddy also got four nominations for the upcoming awards show.

For this year's edition, the MTV VMA features 35 first-time nominees, including Kim Petras with five nods as well as Ice Spice, Reneé Rapp, K-pop group Fifty Fifty, JVKE, Toosii, and Stephen Sanchez, among others.

Fans can vote for their favorite artists up to a maximum of 20 times per day on MTV's official website
