'Deadpool & Wolverine' stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman receive two titles from Guinness World Records
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who are both starring in Deadpool & Wolverine, have been awarded two Guinness World Records titles.
The international stars were given the official certificates in the middle of their recent guesting on ITV's The Morning with host Alison Hammond.
Reynolds got one as Wrexham AFC's co-owner, following the recognition of the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, Wales, UK as the oldest international football ground. According to GWR, it's been in use for 147 years and 31 days as of April 5.
The actor said the award "means so much" to him and "[his] Welsh ancestors."
Reynolds, along with Jackman, were later given a GWR certificate for Deadpool & Wolverine, which became the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours when it was released in February.
Guinness World Records stated that the trailer was first shown at Super Bowl LVIII and it garnered 365 million views globally at the time.
"What? One million for every day of the year—that's so awesome!" Reynolds said.
Deadpool & Wolverine follows an organization called the Time Variance Authority pulling Deadpool from his quiet life and setting him on a mission that will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) alongside Wolverine.
The film is the series’ first entry in the MCU. Rival studio 20th Century Fox was the original producer and distributor of the Deadpool and X-Men movies before Disney, Marvel’s parent company, purchased 20th Century Fox and the rights to the characters. It serves as the return of Jackman as Wolverine after 2017's Logan, which is the final entry in the Wolverine series of films.
The movie also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić. It opened in Philippine cinemas on July 24. Check out a detailed review of the new installment here.
