‘Puso puso lang’? Kuya Kim reveals he’ll be changing his signature catchphrase in new network

We're saying goodbye to Kuya Kim's signature catchphrase.

With the confirmation that ABS-CBN primetime weathercaster Kim Atienza is switching to GMA-7, his educational trivia and presence won't be the only thing gone from the network.

In Atienza's first mediacon as a Kapuso member, he confirmed that he will no longer be using the catchprase of "Ang buhay ay weather weather lang" as the ending line of his new stint in 24 Oras.

He explained that the catchphrase legally belongs to ABS-CBN, thus he's not legally allowed to mention it aboard his new network. "The name weather weather lang is also the name of the segment so ABS-CBN owns that, they have a copyright on that," he explained.

He added that he and the GMA team are still figuring what his new catchphrase would be, as he won't be replacing GMA-7's resident, weatherman Nathaniel Cruz.

"I will not be doing weather because you have the best weatherman in the Philippines. You have Mang Tani," he said, calling Cruz his "mentor" throughout the years.

Atienza also shared the little "forces of habit" he will have to get used to during his switch.

"There is a conscious effort all the time na kontrolin ko dila ko," he shared, stating examples such as GMA's wording of "News and Public Affairs" that he now has to get used to saying instead of ABS-CBN's "News and Current Affairs."

Nevertheless, he still shows love to his former network of many years: “Mahal ko sila, 17 years ko nakasama yung dati kong nakasama. But the opportunity that GMA was given was just so good that was the right thing to do.”

At the end of the conference, Kim teased his former catchphrase by concluding: "'Wag kalimutan, ang buhay ay... puso-puso lang."
