Shaman King remake to premiere April 2021
If you’re familiar with the terms Shaman Fight, Oracle Bell, Power Spirit and Oversoul, chances are, you’re a fan of the 2001 anime Shaman King. Good news for you then.
Almost 20 years since it first aired, Shaman King has just released a new trailer for an upcoming remake scheduled to broadcast in Japan in April 2021.
In a 35-second trailer released by King Amusement Creative, villain Hao Asakura and his Spirit of Fire can be seen looking down and clashing against his descendant, the protagonist Yoh and his battle spirit Amidamaru, along with fiancé Anna Kyoyama.
Not the type to back down to challenges, Yoh responds by merging with Amidamaru in Oversoul mode to unleash their hidden power. A battle then ensues.
The teaser hints of new art and updated visuals for the characters, as well as a refreshed soundtrack for the remake.
The official website of the anime reboot also revealed the anime’s cast and staff members. Lead character Yoh will now be voiced by Yoko Hikasa in the new series, but the rest of the crew – Katsuyuki Konishi, Megumi Hayashibara and Minami Takayama – are all reprising their roles from the 2001 version as Amidamaru, Anna and Hao. It will be directed by Jouji Furuta.
Studio Bridge is currently doing animation work for the TV series reboot that will cover all 35 volumes of the manga’s new complete edition.
