The lead star penned a heartfelt message, reflecting on the challenging but rewarding journey.

“I feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory,” Bailey wrote.

Like many productions in recent years, The Little Mermaid remake has faced challenges brought by the pandemic being one of the Disney films that halted production in March 2020.

“It has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I’ve ever known, to feeling self doubt/loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I’ve reached the end. This experience has made me so much stronger than I ever thought I could be,” she added.

Singer Chloe Bailey also showed her support to her younger sister, and said she is “so proud” of Halle.

The Little Mermaid also stars Jacob Tremblay (voice of Flounder), Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric), Awkwafina (voice of Scuttle), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula), Javier Bardem (King Triton), and Daveed Diggs (voice of Sebastian).

The film will feature songs from the animated classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman and will add new songs by Menken for music and Lin-Manuel Miranda for the lyrics.

Director Rob Marshall also produced the film alongside John DeLuca and Marc Platt. Disney has yet to announce the release date of the upcoming project.
