Now we all know Netflix is working on a live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but do you ever wish fans could get more animated versions of the series (because we all know how the M. Night Shyamalan's Avatar turned out)?

Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation have announced that they have three Avatar: The Last Airbender animated films in the pipeline.

The series' co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino will produce the untitled movies with Lauren Montgomery directing the first of the three films. The movie will also be produced under Avatar Studios, a division formed under Nickelodeon designed to produce more series based in the world of Avatar.

“As original creators Mike and Bryan expand the Avatar universe with us, we’re keeping it all in the family with Lauren bringing the same kind of expert, beautiful work she did on the original series to her new directing duties on the forthcoming theatrical,” says Ramsey Naito, president of animation at Paramount and Nickelodeon Animation

Konietzko and DiMartino were originally also part of Netflix's adaptation of their series, but they left the project in August 2020 due to production challenges.

Aang and the rest of the gang first hit TV screens in 2005 and the series has received multiple awards since. A sequel to The Last Airbender was released in 2012, The Legend of Korra, which followed the story of the next avatar.

Will we be seeing new avatars after Korra in these upcoming films? Or will we get a glimpse of former avatars like fan-favorite Kyoshi?
