Get ready for an online battle royale in one of the most classic arcade games of all time. Can you be the last Pac-Man standing in a 99-player online game?

Forty years after the classic arcade game rocked the gaming world, Pac-Man is back and stronger than ever in a brand new retro gaming experience.

Nintendo, on behalf of Bandai Namco, just announced Pac-Man 99, featuring the famous yellow pellet muncher, and uses the same template/game engine as Mario Bros. 35 and Tetris 99

As the title suggests, this new challenge lets player face off against 99 other players to become the top Pac player.

Get back in the same old maze and chase down the iconic ghosts. But this time, you can send the ghosts to get in the way of other players. Switch between eight different strategies and send Jammer Pac-Man to get in your opponents' way.

Like the classic game, you eat Power Pellets to turn ghosts blue and make them vulnerable. But here, you eat them in order to send Jammer Pac-Man to your opponents. The more ghosts you eat, the more Jammers you'll send.

Consuming sleeping ghosts creates a Ghost Train for a huge comeback.

Players can gain the upper hand by switching between eight different preset strategies: speed up, send extra Jammers, and more. Switching at just the right moment could give you an edge over your rivals.

Check out how the crazy action unfolds in the video below.

Pac-Man 99 is being offered exclusively for free to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers and will be available starting Wednesday (April 7) at 6 PM PST.

Additional paid content, including classic themes and offline modes, will also be available. On the game's official page on the Nintendo website, there are 17 individual DLC packs (including the offline mode unlock for $14.99 USD) and a "Deluxe Pack" for $29.99 USD.
