Good news for PC gamers looking to level up their gaming room and set-up at home. IKEA announced that they're partnering with ASUS' Republic of Gamers (ROG) division to create a line of 30 home gaming furniture products.

The Swedish furniture company announced that they would be releasing a range of “affordable and ergonomic gaming furniture and accessories” designed to increase performance while blending aesthetically with existing home funishings.

ROG, one of the leading brands in the gaming industry known for designing high quality, innovative hardware and gear for gamers, posted a teaser on Twitter with the logos of the two brands and the hashtag #WelcomeGamingHome.

IKEA said the new product line would address the rapid growth of the global gaming market and the needs and wishes of gaming fans, which have so far remained overlooked in terms of home furnishing.

While the company did not specify exactly what would be part of the collection in their official annnouncement, it’s likely that gaming desks and chairs will be part of the mix, given IKEA’s expertise for functional and space-saving furniture.

Sharing the news on Twitter, IKEA Deutschland posted a sample photo of a sleek all-black gaming desk and gaming chair linking to an article that offers a sneak peek of the collection and creative partnership.

Even though the posted photo is just a sample and not the actual gaming setup, the folks at IKEA and ROG may be hinting at it as an inspiration for the collection's design aesthetic.

“By teaming up with ROG, IKEA wants to combine home furnishing knowledge with ROG’s expertise in creating exceptional gaming experience. Together, we set out to help the many gamers (and their families) welcome gaming home through developing the new range of affordable and ergonomic gaming furniture & accessories, designed to increase performance while also blend in beautifully to homes,” the company wrote.

IKEA has already started exploring the world of gaming with a smart home division and AR furniture app, but this is the first time they're focusing on the fast growing global segment of PC Gaming.

The new product line is being developed in the IKEA Product Development Centre in China, Shanghai. IKEA said its designers held several workshops with ROG designers and engineers along with professional gamers and “gaming lovers” to explore the functionality needed for a high-quality home gaming experience.

”ROG is thrilled to be partnering with IKEA to create the ultimate gaming lifestyle for gamers. Gamers have always dreamed of the perfect gaming space that is both comfortably functional and enables full immersion in games. With years of experience delivering innovative gaming solutions to gamers, ROG has a strong understanding of the gaming community. Together with IKEA as an expert in home furnishing, we envision that this collaboration will create synergies that empower gamers to build the gaming space they have always imagined in the comfort of their own homes,” said Kris Huang, General Manager of ASUS Gaming Gear and Accessory Business Unit.

The product line will launch in China by February 2021 before being rolled out to other IKEA markets worldwide by October 2021.
