LOOK: Giant 3D cat appears at one of Tokyo’s biggest billboards

A giant 3D cat has captured the attention of many after it suddenly appeared atop one of the biggest billboards in Tokyo, Japan.

Situated on a 1664-square-foot curved LED screen, the massive “creature” has been seen playing around and adorably meowing at passersby along the busy Shinjuku district. Its activities change from time to time—from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., the hologram shows the feline waking up, walking, and sleeping on its paws, among other movements.

The hyper-realistic piece is set to officially launch on Monday, July 12, but it has been tested for broadcast since June. Cross Space, which is among the companies who worked on the project, is also live-streaming it on YouTube from a different angle.

According to CNN International, this isn’t the first mega 3D billboard that has been made for viewing. Such has “appeared in several Asian countries in recent years,” its report noted. “Last May, agigantic 3D wave, designed by technology firm d'strict, took over South Korea's biggest digital billboard in Seoul's Gangnam neighborhood.”
