BTS’ V has released his new solo single, the R&B grooved track entitled FRI(END)S.

In this song, he sings about falling in love with someone with whom he had imagined he could have a romantic relationship but who just views him as a friend.

According to Big Hit Music, “The track, rooted in the pop-soul R&B genre, delivers relatable and witty romance through lyrics written entirely in English.”

V had completed the song before commencing his military duty in December 2023.

The singer stated in a press release, "I prepared this song with the thought that I wanted to record it while searching for songs to share with our fans." He continued, "I think ARMY will enjoy this song as well. It's a charming piece."

The newly released single follows Layover, V's 2023 EP, which featured songs Blue, Love Me Again, Rainy Days, Slow Dancing, and For us.

V, along with his fellow BTS members, is currently enlisted for their mandatory military service in South Korea. This hiatus is expected to put the massively popular K-pop group on hold until 2025.

This song is available on all major streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.

As of writing, the music video has already amassed 2 million views within a few hours of release
