Netflix has confirmed that the second season of Squid Game is set to return in 2024.

The streaming platform has earlier revealed the cast for the second season with Lee Jung Jae set to reprise his role as Seong Gi-hun. Joining him are the original cast from Season 1 including Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo.

New players completing the cast are Korean actors Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-sim, and former Bigbang member Choi Seung-hyun (also known as T.O.P).

Squid Game follows the story of 456 players, all buried with financial debt, tasked to play a series of thrilling, deadly games, with only one winner bringing home the jackpot prize of a whopping 45.6 billion Korean won or nearly P2 billion.

The first season premiered in October 2021 and has become one of Netflix’s hit series, garnering nods and historic wins in prestigious awards shows like winning six Emmys in 2022.

It has been adapted to a reality competition dubbed Squid Game: The Challenge. The series will also have a video game version to be released this year.
