WATCH: BINI, SB19 suffer technical difficulties during 'Billboard Philippines: Mainstage' performances

P-pop sensations SB19 and BINI experienced technical difficulties during Billboard Philippines' anniversary event but carried on with their respective performances and handled it like absolute pros.

The much-loved groups were the headliners of the Billboard Philippines: Mainstage at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 15.

In a now-viral video shared by an attendee on X, BINI was singing the first verse of Cherry on Top past 1 a.m. of Oct. 16 when the playback suddenly stopped. This prompted the group to sing a capella, much to the fans' delight.

In another video on X, the music suddenly returned by the end of the song's chorus. This left BINI dazed and confused, with member Stacey saying, "Let's do it one more time."

The performance went on as usual, with the song transitioning to Pantropiko as the girl group showcased their soothing vocals and alluring dance moves.

SB19, meanwhile, was performing Mana when two layers of the music were apparently playing together, with the other one delayed, disrupting the live band that played with the group. This left members Stell and Pablo confused, even as they couldn't hear the song in their in-ear monitors.

The group continued their performance though the issues remained. At one point, Pablo told his co-members, "What are you guys doing?"

The lights then turned off, as Josh said, "Yo," and Ken said, "Stop, stop, stop."

SB19 took a break for a few minutes and returned on stage to perform Mana again, but the same issue with synchronicity happened. It was unclear whether it's the live band or the playback that had problems.

The third time was the charm, and SB19 performed the song again but without the live band. The group members delivered a strong performance, apparently in a heightened state. They capped off their set with Crimzone, finishing at around 1:50 a.m.

Past 4 a.m., SB19 on X thanked the public for the support and alluded to the technical difficulties they had experienced.

"A’tin, thank you for your energy and dedication even during unexpected challenges," the group said, pertaining to their fandom.

"Rest assured, we have noted and marked all the ways we can improve so we can deliver even better performances in the future," SB19 said.

BINI has yet to address the incident. Billboard Philippines has also yet to issue a statement regarding the technical problems.

The magazine's anniversary show saw 33 artists performing their hits, including Moira dela Torre, Yeng Constantino, Sarah Geronimo, Regine Velasquez, and Gary Valenciano, among others.
