'The Office' spinoff, 'The Paper,' set to premiere in September
A spinoff of the popular mockumentary series The Office is set to premiere in September.
If you missed the chaotic yet goofy characters in The Office, Peacock announced that it will now have a spinoff of its own, dubbed The Paper, which will follow the "silly trials and turmoil" of office staff trying to revive a newspaper business.
“The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it," the series logline reads.
The new series will star About Time actor Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore from The White Lotus season 2, and Oscar Nuñez, who will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez.
Joining them are Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
The upcoming series will also have a mockumentary-style treatment like the original series and will be helmed by The Office creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. The exact premiere date is yet to be announced.
The Office is a 2005 sitcom with a “mockumentary” treatment. It starred Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ellie Kemper, and Rainn Wilson, among others.
Throughout its 201-episode run, the series earned numerous accolades from prestigious award-giving bodies, such as the Peabodys, the Screen Actors Guild, the Golden Globes, and the Primetime Emmys.
